Art opening at Schoharie Crossing in Ft. Hunter, NY on July 8th  2017

Check out all the amazing Erie Canal art including Craig Murphy’s Erie Canal lock tintype in Views & Vistas: The Natural and Built Environment of Schoharie Crossing

Craig creates tintype images using the original 19th century photographic process. These are the same methods photographers like Mathew Brady, Alexander Gardner and others used during the Civil War.

In the spring of 2015, Craig packed up his studio inside The Shirt Factory to travel with his Glens Falls Art tintype studio and soon began photographing New York State Erie Canal locks and locations. Craig has traveled to make authentic heirloom tintypes in Lockport, Palmyra, Cohoes, Waterford, and Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site in Ft Hunter NY.
